Privacy policy

Last updated August 28, 2026

Lane3 is a planning tool for high-school swimmers and their families. A lot of our users are minors, so we've tried to keep this short, honest, and free of legalese you'd need a lawyer to decode.

What we collect

  • Account info: your email address and a password (stored hashed by our authentication provider — we never see it).
  • Profile info you choose to enter: name, graduation year, high school and club team, city/state, events and best times, and optionally GPA and test scores.
  • Your planning data: which timeline items you've checked off, your target school list, and any notes you write.
  • Basic, privacy-friendly analytics: aggregate page views. We do not use advertising trackers or build advertising profiles.

Every field beyond your email is optional. Please don't enter more than you need — especially for academic information.

Who can see your profile

Only you. Athlete profiles are private to the account that created them. They are not public, not searchable, and not visible to college coaches. We have not built a coach-facing side of Lane3, and if we ever do, it will be opt-in — we will not flip your existing profile to visible without asking you first.

What we don't do

  • We do not sell your data. Not now, not as a "partnership."
  • We do not share your profile with recruiting services, colleges, or coaches.
  • We do not send your information to advertisers or data brokers.
  • We do not use your data to train third-party advertising models.

Service providers we rely on

To run the product we use a small number of vendors strictly as processors: a hosting provider, a database and authentication provider, an email delivery provider (for account and confirmation emails), and a privacy-friendly analytics provider. They process data only to provide those services to us.

Athletes under 18

Recruiting starts young, so many of our users are 14–17. We collect only what a recruiting resume needs and keep it private. Lane3 is not intended for children under 13; if the athlete is under 13, a parent or guardian should create and hold the account. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, email us and we'll delete it.

Deleting your data

You can clear or edit anything in your profile at any time. To delete your account and everything attached to it, email hello@trylane3.com from your account address and we'll remove it, generally within a few days.

Security

Data is transmitted over HTTPS and stored with row-level access rules so that one account cannot read another account's data. No system is perfect; if you spot something, please tell us right away.

Changes and contact

We're early, so this policy will get more detailed over time. If we make a material change to how we handle your data, we'll email account holders. Questions: hello@trylane3.com.
